and questioning others, I selected UreChem paint product for my project.\u00a0 I had used PPG product about 25 years ago and UreChem appeared very close but at far less cost.\u00a0 What won me over was their Liquid Brass color that very closely mimicked real brass.\u00a0 They also had some really pretty blue pearl colors, I went with Pacific Blue Pearl.\u00a0 The brass was a two-stage color job in addition to the primer and clear coat.<\/p><p>Their surface primer did a great job and I just used an old less expensive Harbor Freight gun I had from long ago.\u00a0 It did a great job of laying the primer down.\u00a0 Then I bought the Spectrum HTE gun from Harbor Freight.\u00a0 I wasn&#8217;t sure if this was the right move, but the YouTube testimonials convinced me.\u00a0 I&#8217;m glad I did, the gun worked perfectly and I was able to apply the paint with professional-looking results.<\/p><p>The only hiccup I experienced was poor preparation on the two front hood panels.\u00a0 After I applied the color, I saw way too many flaws, so I skipped clear coating them with the rest of the car and went back to sanding once they were dry after 24 hours had elapsed.\u00a0<\/p><p>After reapplying primer, I recognized I was about to run out of activator, so I chose to not add it to the color coat as it was optional anyway.\u00a0 Well it turned out that the blue shade did not match the rest of the body, so it sticks out like a sore thumb.\u00a0 Surprisingly others did not notice it until I pointed it out but to me it is so painfully obvious, I am shocked nobody has said anything.\u00a0 The only difference I can pin the mismatched hue is that the body had activator mixed in and the hood panels did not.\u00a0 Oh well, live and learn.\u00a0 As Hunstville is now only one week away, I cannot get more activator to redo it in time, so I will have to go with the dual hue blue and live with it.<\/p><p>Otherwise, the hood clear coat really applied nice and wet without any runs and looks amazing.\u00a0 The brass tank and front radiator also look super amazing.\u00a0 I am very happy with the paint, it&#8217;s the painter and prepper (me) that needs correction.\u00a0 Hopefully next time, I will allow myself more time for this phase, I was just too rushed as the deadline for Huntsville was upon me.<\/p><p>Over all,\u00a0 it turned out pretty nice.<\/p><p>One day left before packing, loading and getting my Ford Edge and trailer ready for our trip.\u00a0 Still need to get the seats done, change the oil, and a half dozen other items finished.\u00a0 The pressure is
