Model 13 - First Showing
Idaho Falls celebrated its senior citizens with an event staged at the Westbank center located downtown just off the riverwalk and falls. This event shared senior citizen talents, activities, and services available for them as they manage their aging process.
I was very fortunate to be a part of this grand event and was given an ideal location right off of the entrance lobby to show my Bugatti Type 13 in its present state. I worked hard the prior few weeks getting it primed and put together to show. I worked until 1:30 AM the day of the event putting the last pieces together so it looked like a car. It was still far from a racing machine, but it was enough to attract a lot of interest.
My hope was to attract others to this fun sport in the local area. I got a few individuals who expressed serious interest, so we’ll see if in fact anything actually materializes.
My wife Sue and I wore some vintage style clothing which added to the fun.
I got a lot of great comments on my build including many from antique car collectors/restorers who were also showing their really cool cars just outside. Being complimented by those who own masterpieces, was both a surprise and very pleasing indeed. I’ve always admired them and to receive praise from them was a big boost.
I met a lot of very interesting people and got to share what cyclekarting was all about. I really had a fun time. I prepared two posters that explained what my project was and another that informed readers about cyclekarting.
But now it’s back to work with only a little over two weeks to go before the big Huntsville event. No rest until Huntsville is behind me.
