My darling wife and I traveled from out little hamlet of Iona, Idaho to attend as spectators at the Huntsville Grand Prix on May 13.  I really did not know what to expect once we arrived as we were new to the cyclekart community.  Immediately upon our arrival, any concerns I had harbored promptly disappeared as we were greeted with open arms by everyone we met.

As we progressed from car to car to meet the builder/owners, we received the warmest welcome and were treated with great advice, suggestions and awesome ideas.  I was invited to sit in some cars, take my first drive in a cyclekart, take measurements and make endless inquiries.  I gained several new insights that I never realized despite my endless research and YouTube evening theatre marathons.

In short I had the time of my life!  I learned that my new-found friends were just the type of people I most enjoyed in my life.  They were kind, generous, very clever, and displayed a humility that I appreciated.  Another common characteristic they had, was an inward craving to create something with their own minds and hands that expressed who they were in their life’s journey.  I enjoyed hearing their journeys as much as I did the technical aspects.  To all of you who shared so much with me, I want to express my deepest heartfelt gratitude.  You are already family to me.
