I was surprised to see my differential arrive at my doorstep in two pieces.  The store page made this very clear when purchasing.  After watching one video by Steve Vinson on this subject, I got the impression that tearing the unit apart was a bad thing that could lead to disaster.  So I was worried and even lost sleep at night knowing I had no choice but to split it apart so I could get the other shaft installed.
